The question we get most: “Which number should I buy?”. The answer depends on how you'll use the honey, who's having it and how often. This quick guide helps you work out which Manuka honey grade suits you, without paying extra for something you don't need.

If you're not sure what MGO and UMF mean, start with our MGO vs UMF guide.

1. Everyday use: MGO 115+ to 263+

For a spoonful every morning, on toast, in yoghurt or granola, or stirred into warm tea, this grade is all you need. You get the distinctive Manuka taste at a price that works for daily use, since taste and routine don't call for a high grade.

2. For the family and year-round immune support: MGO 400+

A great balance of strength and price, for anyone who wants a higher grade to support their immunity and keep the body well all year round, not just in winter. If the whole family has it every day, the 500g jar is better value.

3. High grade: MGO 573+ to 850+

For those who want the strongest grade in a small spoonful. Because it's so potent, you don't need much: one teaspoon a day is enough. AndManuka Health MGO 573+ is our best seller, also available in a 500g jar.

4. The rare grades: MGO 950+ to 1200+

The highest and rarest grades, which makes them a luxury gift for someone special, or for anyone who simply wants the best.

5. For work, travel and school

If you'd rather not carry a jar, there are single-serve sachets and easy lozenges:

FAQs

Which Manuka honey grade is right for children?

Honey in general must not be given to babies under one year old. For older children, a mild grade like MGO 115+ or 263+ is enough. Check with your doctor if there's any health condition or diabetes.

How many spoonfuls a day?

Usually one to two teaspoons a day is enough, as honey is still a natural sugar. Don't add it to very hot drinks; let them cool until warm so the honey keeps its value.
